Longueuil police have arrested a suspect after a lockdown this afternoon at a St. Hubert high school.
The lockdown began at about noon at Heritage Regional High School and lasted just over an hour, affecting about 1800 students, teachers and staff.
Police spokesman Ghyslain Vallières told CJAD 800 that was a precaution after the school called them about a threat they received at 9:30 this morning via social media.
"Everybody is safe, the staff and the students," said Vallières.
The suspect was arrested outside the school property limits and is not a resident of Longueuil.
Vallières said officers combed the school and found nothing. Classes resumed but some students chose to leave.
Vallières would not reveal the nature of the threat for fear of compromising the investigation.
Vallières said investigators had a good base of information and were able to locate the suspect quickly.
A charge of uttering threats is likely and other charges are possible.
