Another day, another story about another long wait for an ambulance.
A Cartierville man waited close to 6 hours after calling Urgences-santé for his wife who fell and ended up with a broken ankle.
Bedros Bedrossian's 79-year-old wife, who has Parkinson's Disease, fell down at home last night and woke up with a painful, swollen ankle.
Bedrossian said their CLSC nurse told them it looked like it was fractured or broken.
"She said to take her to the hospital as soon as possible," said Bedrossian.
Bedrossian said that wasn't possible, with Urgences-santé telling him there were other more urgent cases ahead of his wife who was last on the triage list.
"For me, it's not acceptable because she's crying, She has pain ten out of ten," said Bedrossian, who reached out to CJAD 800.
"She's in pain, she cries. Now I'm going to give her another pill."
Bedrossian said he's been giving his wife Tylenol for the pain but it helped only a bit.
Urgences-santé told CJAD 800 that they tried dispatching an ambulance a few times but they were always redirected to more urgent cases on this exceptionally busy day.
"It's not acceptable. Five hours, it's too much to wait," said Bedrossian.
Bedrossian said he hopes the new health minister can address the issue.
"The minister of health has to take care of these things. We have a new government now," said Bedrossian.
