The search for a killer who escaped from the east-end Pinel Institute on Monday afternoon came to an end Wednesday morning in LaSalle.
In 2012, Sean Brennan was found not criminally responsible for the stabbing death of 41-year-old Bryan Bougie in Pointe Claire on Jan. 26, 2011.
Bougie has apparently found Brennan on the stairs of his apartment building near the corner of Pardo and Douglas Shand Aves., and then sheltered him out of kindness.
Bougie was later stabbed 91 times.
During his trial, the court heard he was taking medication for paranoid schizophrenia, but was in a state of psychosis when the killing happened. He told the court he believed he was on a reality TV show similar to the plot in the Jim Carrey movie 'The Truman Show', and that television had ordered him to kill.
Brennan was confined to the Pinel Institute since the end of the trial. He was on an unescorted leave when he disappeared — despite his being on the lam for 10 days in 2016.
