An 18-year-old man has died in hospital after he was hit by a car while cycling on Mount Royal Wednesday morning.
According to police, at about 11:00 A.M. the young man was heading south on Camillien-Houde at the same time as a car. As they approached the Belvédère Camillien-Houde, a well-known lookout spot atop the Mountain, the vehicle made a sudden illegal U-turn.
The car struck the cyclist, which caused him to be violently thrown from his bike.
The young man was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries, he died Wednesday night.
The driver of the vehicle, a 59-year-old man, was not injured and remained at the scene. He has not been charged.
Police said an investigation is ongoing, but it will take several days before it is known if charges will be laid.
