After a passenger became verbally aggressive towards another passenger, an Air Transat plane headed for Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic was forced to return to Trudeau Airport just 40 minutes into its flight. Flight attendants were unable to calm the man, and a spokeswoman for Air Transat says the return to Montreal was made for security reasons.
Police met the passenger after the plane returned to Montreal, but no arrest was made, and a spokesperson says the man was cooperative.
The incident delayed the flight for five hours, since the extra time that the return to Trudeau took meant that a new crew was needed in order to comply with rules limiting how long pilots and attendants can be on staff.
The airline says that all 183 passengers received a $100 credit towards a flight for the inconvenience, and that some also received a food voucher.
