Montreal taxi drivers are upset with new municipal regulations that will force them to paint their cars white.
According to the Journal de Montréal, only the roof and hood of the vehicles will be allowed to be painted another colour.
Many cab drivers use their own cars, and are not only upset about a potential new paint job but also the cost. The Journal says taxi companies will have to foot the bill, which could cost around $1,700 per vehicle.
Some feel the only way these changes will be accepted is if companies will be provided funding from either the city or provincial government. One former driver tells the Journal the new paint jobs should be grandfathered into effect, with current drivers having the option to keep their vehicles in their original colour.
Montreal mayor Denis Coderre is expected to announce the changes later today.
