Reports in two newspapers this morning say that Uber is going to announce today that it is pulling out of Quebec.
The Journal de Montreal and La Presse say the ride-hailing service could shut down by October of 2018.
The decision would come just a week after the provincial government renewed the Uber pilot project for another year.
Uber executives are apparently unhappy that Quebec requires 35 hours of driver training compared to the company's standard 20 hour training course.
Uber also wanted to have a private security company carry out background checks of potential drivers because government-mandated police background checks have been taking too long to complete and potential Uber drivers are stuck on long waiting lists.
