Two of the five accused in last week's vicious beating of a high school student have been released on bail but are confined to their homes 24/7.
The two youths, aged 15 and 16, can't go out unless they're accompanied by their respective grandmother and mother or they're going to school and work.
The two boys, who are minors and cannot be named, are charged with conspiracy and assault causing bodily harm, which carries a maximum sentence of ten years upon conviction .
A student was brutally beaten last week by other youths in a park in Rivière-des-Prairies while others stood by and watched. One took a video which was first obtained by CJAD 800 News.
Defence lawyer Georges Iurcu said he recommended house arrest which would be more beneficial than juvenile detention.
Quebec Youth Court Judge Jacky Roy appeared to agree and said he'd release the boys into the custody of someone trustworthy.
Roy noted that the violence and circumstances of the beating were "very troublesome" and that it appeared to be gratuitous violence.

A third youth was already released on bail but without a 24/7 curfew.
The remaining two youths pleaded guilty and will face a sentencing hearing in December. They are also confined to their homes except for school and work or unless they are accompanied by their mother or grandmother.
All five accused must respect similar conditions including not being in contact with the victim, not mentioning him directly or indirectly on social media, and also avoiding contact with their co-accused. They are also banned from being within 100 metres of Lester B. Pearson High School.
