Two youths attempting to cross the eastbound portion of Highway 20 in Pointe Claire on foot Wednesday morning caused an accident involving two cars.
Police say the two — believed to have been teenagers — ventured out on the fast lane at St. John's Road at around 4:45 a.m.
One motorist swerved while trying to avoid them. That car struck another, and that second vehicle flipped, injuring the driver.
Both drivers were sent to hospital to be treated for minor injuries, and a stretch of the 20 eastbound was closed for several minutes after the crash.
The pedestrians have not been found. Police say they could face fines if they ever manage to catch up with them.
