A 48-year-old Cote-des-Neiges man is now on trial in connection with a bomb threat made against Concordia University nearly a year ago.
The trial heard on Monday that HIsham Saadi, a Concordia graduate student, went to the Tim Hortons at around 9:15 a.m., ordered a coffee, opened his laptop, and then sent emails to several media outlets warning that explosives would go off at three Concordia buildings.
Those buildings, including the Hall building and the nearby EV building, were evacuated, and classes cancelled.
The letters warned the bombs would go off "until Concordia University stops religious activities of all kinds on campus."
Police arrested Saadi the day after the letter was sent and he was charged with mischief, uttering threats, and inciting fear of a terrorist-related attack.
