Motorists will see more roadwork, detours and traffic almost everywhere they go this fall and for the next few years.
Transport Quebec has presented its fall plan for roadwork in the Montreal area.
The hot spots will be in the southern portion of the island:
• the St-Pierre interchange
• the Turcot and Champlain Bridge area
• the Ville Marie expressway
• the Lafontaine Tunnel

In November, they will begin work on a major phase of the Ville Marie project, including the dismantling of the westbound portion of the elevated expressway and the covering of part of the eastern section near Old Montreal. The ramp from Highway 15 to Highway 20 West in the Turcot Interchange will be closed for demolition starting in the middle of this month.
But the pain will be spread out east to west and north to south, including:
• L'Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge
• Highway 40 at Henri-Bourassa Blvd.
• Highway 25 and the Île Charron overpass
• Highway 15 near the Gédéon-Ouimet Bridge
• Highway 132 West
These are just the closures for Turcot-Champlain Bridge-Bonaventure area. Until 2019/2020 in some cases. Red means total closures. #CJAD pic.twitter.com/c95v30AXaN

City streets won't be spared:
• Côte-St-Luc between Décarie and Bonavista
• Côte-Ste-Catherine between Westbury and Côte-des-Neiges
• Laurier West between Côte-Ste-Catherine and Parc
• Langelier between Bélanger and Jean-Talon
And #Montreal will have its share of roadwork this fall. #CJAD pic.twitter.com/lpKziphuze

Some of the work is underway and will end this year; other work won't finish until next year, 2019 or 2020.
Transport officials are spending almost $49-million over the next year to maintain traffic mitigation measures and improve public transit:
• extending the hours for the reserved lane on the Champlain Bridge during the morning rush hour
• extending the reserved lane on the Bonaventure Expressway towards downtown
• more spaces at the Montcalm-Candiac and St-Constant incentive parking lots and the Repentigny train station
• more South Shore buses
