The Federal Transport Minister Minister wants Air Canada to buy-in to new technology which is able to reduce the amount of noise produced by it's fleet of Airbus A 320 aircraft.
La Presse reports that in a letter to Air Canada President and CEO Calin Rovinescu Marc Garneau asks that the airline retrofit it's Airbus fleet to reduce noise at airports across the country.
Garneau says Airbus has already developed a type of air deflector which is capable of reducing the noise caused by the pressure equalization vents for the aircraft fuel tanks.
The retrofit could cost up to $25,000 per aircraft.
Air Canada has 42 A 320's.
