The trial of former construction boss Tony Accurso is set to begin Thursday at the Laval courthouse.
Accurso faces multiple charges relating to his alleged involvement in a kickback scheme orchestrated by former Laval mayor Gilles Vaillancourt.
He was one of 37 people arrested in a massive sweep by anti-corruption police in 2013. Several of them, including Vaillancourt, have pleaded guilty to fraud and corruption-related charges.
He's now serving a six-year prison term.
Accurso is the only one who chose to have a trial by jury, and 600 potential jurors were called to the Laval courthouse on Monday.
The trial will hear its first witness next week, and the trial is expected to continue until January.
