Starting next week, CJAD 800's Tommy Schnurmacher is making a change.
He's not retiring, or buying a condo in Brooklyn — but he will get to sleep in a little bit later every morning.
On Nov. 28, CJAD 800 will debut a new one-hour noontime program called the Gang of Four with Tommy Schnurmacher — which, of course, means he'll be taking most of the Gang of Four with him.
"It means I'll no longer have to get up at 5:30 in the morning, it means I'll have time to work on my unfinished novel, I'll have more time for my favorite pastime, which, as many of you may have guessed, travel," Tommy explained on Monday morning.
But what happens to the 9-12 slot — the one Tommy has occupied for the last 20 years, and which has been occupied by legends such as Neil McKenty, Joe Cannon and Melanie King?
Details of CJAD 800's new lineup from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. will be revealed on Wednesday morning at 8:05 on the Andrew Carter Morning Show.
Tommy has been a fixture on Montreal's radio scene for decades, going all the way back to the 70s, and his first entertainment reports for CHOM.
He began hosting a daily program at CJAD 800 in 1996, beginning with the mid-afternoon time slot before moving to his current mid-morning slot soon after.
