It's that time of year again — Daylight Savings Time ends this weekend, which means you'll have to set your clocks back an hour before you go to bed on Saturday night.
It officially kicks in at 2 a.m. on Sunday morning — which means at that hour, it'll become 1 o'clock again, and that essentially means you'll get a do-over for that 1 o'clock hour.
The fall time change brings about some good news and some bad news — the bad news is, it'll get dark a lot earlier. For nine-to-fivers, it means it'll be dark by the time you start the evening commute home.
On the other hand, CJAD 800's Dr. Mitch Shulman says, you'll get an extra hour of sleep.
"You need it desperately," Dr. Mitch says. "Study after study after study has shown most of us — in fact, if not all of us — are probably to some degree, sleep-deprived."
Sleep deprivation can increase the risk of things like obesity, diabetes, some cancers and, of course, grumpiness.
Dr. Mitch adds, however, that whether you move the clock forward or back, there will be an adjustment period for you.
"Just be careful for the next couple of days afterwards, that you aren't being more dorky than usual," he says, "in other words, that you're not tripping over your feet or...just take that extra few moments."
Love it or hate it, Daylight Savings Time returns on March 11.
