We've had a few weeks to get used to the fact that it isn't summer anymore — and this week, the fall weather will intensify another notch.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Montreal area, warning of wind gusts on Monday night that could snap tree limbs.
The winds on Monday evening are expected to come out of the west at 50 kilometres an hour, with gusts up to 80. Those winds will continue to blow through the night and into Tuesday morning, when they're expected to become more manageable.
Behind that system, some cooler temperatures. By Wednesday evening, we could see our first dip below zero, as the forecast low is right on the freezing mark in Montreal.
On Thursday, we're expecting bright sunshine during the day, with a high of only 5 degrees. Thursday night's low could fall to -1.
Meanwhile, some regions of the province, including parts of the Laurentians and the Townships, could see some snow this week — possibly as early as Monday night.
For the moment, though, it looks as though Montrealers be spared the very early snowfall.
