The English Montreal School Board says it's shocked and disappointed over the potential loss of three schools.
The EMSB is concerned about a possible decision by Quebec Education Minister Jean-Francois Roberge to "accelerate the transfer" of three east end youth sector schools to the Commission scolaire de la Pointe-de-l'île, which desparetely needs space.
Chairperson Angela Mancini says a letter she's received from the minister says the schools he wants to transfer to the C-S-P-I for the 2019-2020 academic year are Gerald McShane Elementary in Montreal North, General Vanier Elementary and John Paul I Junior High School in St. Léonard.
The EMSB has until June 10th to provide feedback and is holding a special meeting on the issue next Monday night.
Mancini adds she plans to meet with the media on Friday.
The minister rejected a plan to transfer more than 100 special needs students from the Galileo adult center to help ease the overcrowding.
