Tennis Canada is going to be lobbying all three levels of government for cash to put a roof over centre court at the Uniprix Stadium in Jarry Park.
A retractable roof could cost up to $70-million.
Tennis Canada says a roof would both ensure the future of the Rogers Cup and make the stadium more attractive for other events
La Presse reports that the organization has registered a lobbyist to stir up support for the idea. In addition, it is asking the new Plante Administration at Montreal City Hall to renew the endorsement of the previous Coderre Administration.
Ideally, Tennis Canada would like the roof in place by 2021.
