The CAQ government says it's ending the Uber pilot project and wants to modernize the system and level the playing field for everyone.
Taxi spokesman George Boussios says that's all well and good, but how fair it is will depend on whether the government decides to lean more towards the taxi model — or the Uber model.
Boussios told CJAD 800's Elias Makos that all the taxi companies have gotten together to create a single unified app you would use to order a cab.
"From Laval to the east to the west, to the south and all the Montreal companies as well as Trois-Rivieres, Victoriaville, we're all in that app," he said.
He says the app is on Google Play and in the Apple App store, but that they'll officially announce it when the time is right.
