After an official recount Sylvie Parent was confirmed as the winner of the very tight Longueuil mayoral race.
On election night Parent was declared the winner, defeating opponent Josée Latendresse by 118 votes.
Latendresse and her Action Longueuil party requested a recount.
A Quebec judge agreed to the request after noting some polling stations had a high number of rejected ballots.
Of 59,554 total ballots cast, 1,266 were rejected.
Officials reopened nearly half of the ballot boxes and each vote was counted under the scrutiny with representatives of both municipal parties on hand.
In the end Parent won by 110 votes.
The next challenge for the new Mayor will be the first city council meeting with the new team, which will be next Tuesday.
Parent's Action Longueuil party holds five seats on council while Latendresse's Longueuil Citoyen captured nine and Option Longueuil won three.
