Good news if you're a full time student over the age of 25, you're about to save about $30 per month.
The Metropolitan Regional Transit Authority (ARTM) announced that as of September 1, all students over the age of 18 enrolled fulltime at a recognized educational institution will be eligible to use the reduced rate when using public transit.
Prior to the announcement, anyone over the age of 25-years-old had been forced to pay the full fare.
It's estimated about 30,000 students will benefit from the change.
In Montreal a regular monthly pass costs $83 while the student rate is $49.75.
The ARTM said anyone wishing to take advantage of the discount must have an OPUS card with a photo as of August 1, 2017.
The ARTM is the new agency governing public transit in the Montreal metropolitan area, created by Bill 76 in 2015.
