The wind was howling in Montreal and across the province Monday night, downing trees and branches while knocking out power to tens of thousands of Hydro Quebec customers.
While there was no wind warning issued by Environment Canada, gusts at Trudeau Airport were recorded over 80km/h at about 2:00 A.M.
At the peak of the mini wind storm, more than 30,000 Hydro clients on the island of Montreal were affected by the outages. For most of the night the bulk of the damage was in LaSalle. Hydro crews spent the night trying to fix large outages in Pierrefonds-Roxboro, Dollard-Des Ormeaux, Beaconsfield, Cote-St-Luc and Laval.
By 4:00 A.M. crews were working to fix 335 outages affecting 114,500 customers across Quebec.
