After being shut down for much of the day, the green line of the métro has resumed service between Frontenac and Viau stations.
A water main break early in the morning led the STM to suspend service for a large section of the line's eastern branch. The STM first tweeted about the issue at 9:30 am.

The day-long shutdown, impacting one of the busiest sections of the métro system, came on a deeply inconvenient Sunday for the STM — the closing day of the MetroMetro festival at the Olympic Stadium's Esplanade, right in the middle of the impacted area. The shutdown also complicated travel plans for many east-end residents attempting to get to the first edition of Piknic Électronik of the year at Parc Jean-Drapeau this afternoon.
The transit commission originally expected serivce to resume before 11:00 am, but that proved unrealistic and was quickly changed to 6:00 pm. In the end, the first Honoré-Beaugrand-bound green line train of the day ran shortly before 5:30 pm.
For much of the day Sunday, east-end transit users were forced onto shuttle buses running between Frontenac and Viau, as well as the 125 bus line along Ontario Street East.
