The Transit Corporation and the STM maintenance worker's union are going to be facing off in court this morning over the recent shortage of buses during rush hours.
The Administrative Labor Tribunal has approved a request for a hearing from the STM over complaints that the maintenance workers are engaged in a series of pressure tactics designed to win concessions in contract bargaining.
The STM confirmed last week that things have gotten so bad recently that often bus drivers are being paid to do nothing because of a shortage of available buses.
The union contends its members work overtime and any shortage of buses is being caused by poor decisions made by managers.
The STM calls it a work slowdown and wants the tribunal to force an end.
