City Council in Sainte Anne de Belleveue has approved a traffic control pilot project that will affect people accessing westbound Highway 20 during the afternoon rush hour.
Starting September 17th, traffic heading northbound on Boulevard des Anciens Combattants will not be permitted to turn left onto the westbound 20.
The restriction will apply Monday through Friday, from 4pm to 6pm for one year, before being re-evaluated.
Sainte Anne de Bellevue says the backlog of cars waiting to get onto westbound 20 was creating safety problems on the narrow streets of its village district, and emergency vehicles sometimes had difficulty navigating through the congestion.
