Citing it being no longer profitable, Groupe St-Hubert has decided to closed its Montreal restaurant located on St-Denis St.
This decision will result in the loss of between 75 and 80 jobs.
A spokeswoman for the restaurant chain, Josée Vaillancourt, confirmed Tuesday that the St-Denis location near Mont-Royal Street will close its doors on May 12.
The company assessed the possibility of converting the restaurant and selling it to a franchisee, she continued, but ultimately decided against it.
The location is one of 13 locations owned by Groupe St-Hubert, the rest of its 123 restaurants are franchises.
Earlier this month, Bill Gregson, CEO of Cara Enterprises, owner of the St-Hubert Group, said he wanted to reduce the number of corporate restaurants. He said he felt that St-Hubert was more of a franchise business.
In addition, a Pointe-aux-Trembles location will be converted into a St-Hubert Express, to be paired with a Harvey's, the burger chain also owned by Cara.
It has now been about five months since the Ontario company completed the acquisition of St-Hubert for $540.2 million.
