An Île Bizard couple says they and their four children including a baby were given 48 hours notice yesterday to leave the hotel they've been living in since June after their home was flooded in the spring.
They have until tomorrow to pack up everything they own and get out.
Stephanie Doucet told CJAD 800 News that the Red Cross gave them the ultimatum saying the public security ministry is no longer paying their hotel expenses and they'd have to go, just days after Doucet confirmed they'd be staying another week, which was accepted.
Doucet said they were planning on leaving soon anyway since they'd be moving into someplace new at the end of next month but this was not how they wanted to go.
"We have four kids, one of which is a nine-month-old baby and it's very hectic, it's very stressful, to have to pack for everything and get out and find a place to stay within the next 48 hours," said Doucet.
Doucet said on top of that, they still have no answers about compensation, more than two weeks after their one-on-one meeting with public security officials.
"They haven't been able to give us even a third of the money that they said they would give us according to the list that they provided us so it's just very confusing and very frustrating," said Doucet.
The Quebec Ministry of Public Security said it's investigating.
