The SPCA said an investigation has been launched after a second cat was found burned to death in Montreal's east end.
It's believed it was killed Monday night into Tuesday and was found next to a garbage can in Rosemont, near Casgrain and Rosemont.
The animal agency said it had some leads in the case, adding it can be a warning of worse things to come.
It said it had no information as to who may be behind the gruesome deaths, that it's quoted worried and wants to know more about what happened so it can be prevented going forward.
"It says it's well-known that such an act of animal cruelty can be part of sociopathic behavior and can lead to violence against people. The SPCA has now opened a criminal investigation into the matter", reported CTV's Max Harrold.
A jogger found the animal's body.
Another dead cat, also found burned, was discovered in the same area a few months ago.
If you have information in this case, you're urged to call the SPCA at 514-735-2711, extension 2230.
