Longueuil police are warning of a fraudster preying on those looking to lend a helping hand to neighbours in need.
Investigators said someone has been posing as a victim of the deadly fire on Toulouse St. on February 9.
Three people died, an 11-year-old boy with autism was left orphaned and 13 families, including 23 adults and 15 children, lost their homes and all of their belongings when the 24-unit building was destroyed by fire.
Police said the fraudster has been using social media to solicit money via bank transfers.
