A new Montreal millionaire's story shows that when you're doing your spring/summer cleaning, always be sure to check potentially winning lottery tickets before tossing them in the recycle.
After seeing the recent media reports on social media that Loto-Quebec was still looking for the winner of a recent Maxmillions prize, July-Chinna Su realized she had purchased a lottery ticket in LaSalle (where Loto-Quebec had mentioned the missing winner was from) but never got around to checking it.
As luck would have it, Su had not trashed the ticket while cleaning her house. It was instead just sitting on her kitchen counter.
After what seemed like the longest day of her life, as soon as she got home she checked her numbers and found out, since June 8 she'd been a millionaire without knowing it.
On Wednesday Su picked up her cheque, and posed for a photo with a much larger novelty one as well. She told Loto-Quebec she's going to use the money to travel to Asia to visit China and Cambodia, where her parents are from.
