Let's get straight to the point; we were hit by a real big snowfall.
As of 6:00 A.M. the City of Montreal had been covered in about 40 centimeters of snow. Another two to five more is expected throughout the day Wednesday.
The good news (or bad depending on how old you are) was it meant a snow day for virtually all Montreal-area schools.
All major school boards: Lester B. Pearson, English Montreal, Riverside, New Frontiers, Sir Wilfred Laurier, Eastern Townships, Commission scolaire de Montreal, Commission Scolaire de Marguerite Bourgeoys, Commission Scolaire de la Pointe de l'Ile, Commission scolaire Marie-Victorin-CSMV, Commission scolaire des Grandes-Seigneuries, Commission scolaire des Affluents and Commission scolaire des Sommets all closed their schools Wednesday.
Universities and CEGEPs also cancelled classes: Cégep Édouard-Montpetit (including) l'École nationale d'aérotechnique (ENA) and le Centre technologique en aérospatiale (CTA), Centennial College, Concordia University, Campus will be open to public, Dawson College, John Abbott College, Vanier College, Marianopolis College, University of Montreal, and le Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf.
McGill University cancelled classes until 1:00 P.M.

Many daycares also closed their doors for the day because of the snow: Centre Prescolaire Hudson, CPE Ambcal, CPE Beth Rivkah, CPE Concordia, CPE de Mon Cœur In Montreal, CPE Dollard, CPE Dorval, CPE du Campus in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, CPE Hebrew Academy, CPE Hebrew Day School, CPE Hebrew Day School Tots of Cote St. Luc, CPE Hellénique foyer d'enfants, CPE Laforest enchanter de LaSalle, CPE les Petites Cellules, CPE Les P'tits Profs at Concordia University's Loyola Campus, CPE Maternal enfant des neiges, CPE McGill, CPE Montreal Day Nursery, CPE NDG Play and Care, CPE of Hebrew Academy, CPE of Hebrew Foundation, CPE Petits Coeurs de Francoise, CPE Riverview in Verdun, CPE St Andrew's, CPE Terre des Enfants, CPE Treehouse in Hudson, CPE Tyndale St Georges, CPE Vanier, Daycare center CPE Lachine, Garderie Foundation School Westmount, Garderie les Jolis Coeurs in LaSalle, Giant Steps School, JPPS Children's Centre, Le Monde Des Enfants Montessori (in Greenfield Park), l'École Alex Manoogian et la Garderie Éducative La Vallée des Fleurs, The Learning Tree, Little Learners Daycare and West Island Daycare in Pointe-Claire.
Outside of nearly everything being closed, the snow has caused serious delays for planes, trains and automobiles... and buses too.
At 8:00 A.M. the STM reported 200 of its city buses were stuck in the snow, with only seven tow trucks available to get them out. The public transit group was also shorthanded as close to 100 of its drivers had the same problem many Montrealers had, they couldn't get out of their drive way and were unable to show up for work.
Overall, the best advice, if you don't need to be on the road you should probably just stay home.
