As of the evening rush hour on Tuesday, the job of clearing the 36 centimetres of snow that fell on Montreal this past weekend is half done.
The job began on Sunday night, and is expected to conclude by the end of the week — by which time we're expecting to see much milder weather once again in Montreal.
Three boroughs — Anjou, St. Leonard and St. Laurent — are already 60 per cent of the way done, while the Cote-des-Neiges-NDG borough continues to lag well behind the rest of the city, at 32 per cent.
Last week, Cote-des-Neiges-NDG borough mayor Sue Montgomery explained that trucks which transport snow from the streets to dumping sites at the Turcot Yards and in LaSalle are prone to being stuck in traffic because of the ongoing work to rebuild the Turcot interchange.
Other boroughs located along the construction zone, including the downtown Ville-Marie borough and the Southwest borough, are also lagging behind the city-wide average — both have just over 40 per cent of the job complete.
