We're getting a sneak peak at the huge development that will spruce up a rather run down stretch of Saint Lawrence Boulevard downtown.
La Presse has details of the $115-million complex that will occupy a large plot of land on Saint Lawrence between Rene Levesque Boulevard and Saint Catherine Street.
The Carré Saint-Laurent will have restaurants on the ground floor, but the developers want not franchises or chain outlets, only eateries that highlight Montreal's culinary expertise.
There will be offices as well, and eventually, a hotel.
The first tenants are expected to move in in 2019.
There was one hold-out property owner who could not reach a deal with the developer. That means the building which houses the Cafe Cleopatre burlesque bar will remain, the complex built around it.
