Quebec City police have completed their investigation of sexual assault allegations against former Liberal MNA Gerry Sklavounos.
The file will be turned over to the Director of criminal and penal prosecutions (DPCP) where a decision will be made whether to lay criminal charges.
Sklavounos, the Member of the National Assembly for Laurier-Dorion, is accused of sexually assaulting a young woman in Quebec City in 2014.
TVA News reports that although the investigation is complete police never met with Sklavounos personally.
The network says his lawyers responded to questions on his behalf.
The allegations came to light at an anti-sexual violence rally in Laval, when Alice Paquet took the microphone and told the crowd that she had been a victim of sexual assault.
Paquet later claimed that she had twice been attacked by Sklavounos but was discouraged from filing charges because of his position.
