14 Sears stores across Quebec are starting liquidation sales this week.
Sears Canada announced mass closures in June, after it filed for bankruptcy protection.
At the Place Vertu Sears Outlet in Ville St-Laurent, signs in front of the store announced 30 to 50 per cent discounts; inside the store, every item on the shelf is marked down.
While some shoppers said they were happy with the mark-downs, others, like Stanley Hor and his friend Shifat Khandaker, had a strategy in mind.
"We both intend to come back on the last few days when the prices are going to be much lower," Hor said.
"I've been to another Sears store that closed down and on the last day everything was 90 per cent off. Jeans were a dollar, things like that."
While most shoppers were happy to scoop up, some were regretting the impending closure, like shopper Mario.
"I really feel bad about it, I feel bad for the shpoping centre. When it first opened 40 years ago, it was a great shopping centre. Now all of a sudden, nobody comes here anymore...and I feel sad about it, that makes me depressed, a little bit."
Not every store in the province is having liquidation sales, only those that are closing down.
Around Montreal, those are the Sears Outlet stores in Place Vertu and Saint-Eustache, and the Sears Home stores in Laval and Saint-Bruno.
