Montreal police are investigating after a contractor doing work on a more than 100-year-old home in Westmount pulled down a ceiling only to be hit in the head by a set of remains.
The discovery was made inside a home on Victoria Ave. last Wednesday.
The contractor told 98.5FM he was working in the basement and while pulling down the ceiling it gave way, with a set of bones falling on top of him.
He said at first he thought they belonged to an animal but after a closer look he said he knew right away it was a small child.
The contactor said the remains were surrounded by old newspapers. The dates could not be seen, though they mentioned events with Maurice Duplessis as Premier of Quebec, dating them back anywhere from 1936 to 1959.
The home was built in the early 1900s.
Montreal police would not confirm the details mentioned by the contractor, nor would they say if the remains belong to a human or animal. Police did confirm a set of bones were found and they have been sent out for a full analysis.
