The Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators will play outdoors next season to mark the NHL's centennial.
The game will take place on Dec. 16 at TD Place — the stadium once known as Lansdowne Park and Frank Clair Stadium — a few days shy of the 100th anniversary of the NHL's opening night.
On Dec. 19, 1917, Montreal hosted the original Ottawa Senators franchise, and defeated them 7-4.
The stadium typically holds 24,000 spectators, but that capacity will be expanded to 34,000 for the 2017 Grey Cup game, which is due to take place three weeks earlier.
Those extra seats would remain in place for the hockey game.
The Habs and Senators will play home-and-home this coming weekend — at the Bell Centre on Saturday night, and in Ottawa on Sunday night.
