Montreal police have once again moved their command post as their search for 10-year-old Ariel Jeffrey Kouakou enters its fifth day.
The command post is now at 1000 Gouin Blvd. W. — staffed with officers which have been taking hundreds of tips since little Ariel disappeared from his Cartierville neighborhood last Monday afternoon.
Police, meanwhile, say they're thankful for all the volunteer help they got last night in the search for 10-year-old Ariel Jeffrey Kouakou but they say it's no longer necessary and you can help in other ways.
Brabant said they now have a specialized team of 50 retired police officers and Sun Youth workers specially trained in such searches.
"We don't want to lose (people) or people to get hurt doing the searches and we'd rather deal with people that have experience and that are trained to do the searches," Brabant told CJAD 800 News.
Brabant said you can help by sharing the poster of the little boy missing since Monday from Ahuntsic-Cartierville and by checking the area around your house, alley, shed and garage.
Brabant said so far they've had help from the SQ helicopter, a boat on the river as well as the cavalry and its horses.
Kouadiou Frédéric Kouakou, the child's father, thanked everyone for their concern and their efforts to help bring Ariel home, and made an appeal to all those living in the area.
"My appeal is to ask everybody around Quebec, even in the whole of Canada, to come and support us. I want any kind of support, moral support. And mostly I want people to be in the field to walk around, maybe somebody can see something."
He remains convinced that his son is alive, and that someone may have abducted him.
"I am dead sure my son is still alive simply because he was to go to his friend's house. We saw some camera showing him walking along the street. The last camera I got, he turned around like he was being called by somebody, and then he continued on his way, then he turned around again. So for me, maybe somebody called him, and he was looking around to see who called him. I'm dead sure something happened at that point," said Kouakou.
Ariel is 4'7", and weighs 88 pounds. He has black hair, black eyes, dark skin and speaks French.
He was wearing a black hooded coat, grey pants, and yellow shoes.
Anyone with information about Ariel is urged to call police at 9-1-1 or to call Info Crime at 514-393-1133.
