If you're looking to move something heavy, consider shouting a bunch of coarse expletives to give yourself that extra bit of juice.
Dr. Richard Stephens at Keele University has been studying the benefits of swearing. A few years back he found launching a couple F-bombs at the top of your lungs can actually have a pain-lessening effect.
Now in his latest follow up study he tested a number of subjects performing two different strength tests.
Dr. Stephens's findings show across both experiments, a short run on an exercise bike and an isometric handgrip test, the majority of participants showed greater power when swearing like a sailor.
The doctor told the British Psychological Society the next phase of his research will be to determine why swearing has such effects on the human body.
