School bus drivers who transport about 15,000 students to school in Montreal will be going on strike next week.
The union representing the 330 Transco drivers announced Wednesday that its members would walk off the job for a single day on February 28.
This will be the third of the three day strike mandate voted for on January 23.
President of the Transco-CSN Workers Union Carole Laplante said the group regrets the decision, but adds it is a matter of respect.
The sticking point in negotiations continues to be wage increases.
On January 31, an agreement in principle was reached between the union and Transco but it was rejected by 83 per cent of union members almost two weeks later.
During the strike the union will meet with members to vote on a new mandate or even an unlimited strike.
The strike impact some bus service at a number of schools at four school boards in Montreal - Lester B. Pearson, English Montreal, Marguerite-Bourgeoys, CSDM - and private school Collège Sainte-Anne.
