The STM says at least 84 of its drivers working out of the Anjou garage will face sanctions for their wildcat walkout on Monday morning.
They were staging a protest over the paperwork they had to file before heading out the door,
About 200 buses serving nearly two dozen bus routes stayed in the garage for about an hour during the morning rush, during an extended metro shutdown on the northernmost end of the orange line — and during the season's first blast of winter.
The union contends the drivers haven't been trained properly in how to fill out the new log books and forms, which were made mandatory by the Quebec auto insurance board, beginning on Sunday. The forms address things like odometer readings, and whether any lights on the bus are malfunctioning.
Failure to fill out the forms properly will result in a $350 fine for the driver.
The Anjou protest was the only one of its kind. None of the STM's seven other garages, or any of the Laval or Longueuil transit garages, had anything similar going on Monday.
The STM wouldn't be specific, though, on what penalties they would hand out to drivers, or when.
