Saint Patrick's Day revelers will take to the streets of Chateauguay this afternoon for the region's 14th annual parade celebrating all things Irish.
The parade will feature five dozen organizations and businesses, including Irish dancers, Scouts and Girl Guides, the Elgin District Pipes and Drums, the Montreal Pipes and Drums, The Erin Sports Association and the Black Watch RHR of Canada. The Parade Queen and her Princesses will round out the procession.
The parade, organized by the Chateauguay and Valley Irish Heritage Association and the City of Chateauguay, gets underway at 1 o'clock from the corner of D'Anjou Boulevard and Yvon. It proceeds along d'Anjou to Maple, and then onto McLeod.
There will be street closures in the area from 10 o'clock onward. D'Anjou Boulevard, a major thoroughfare in Chateauguay, will be closed between Saint-Jean-Baptiste Boulevard and Maple from 11:30 to 3 p.m. Traffic will be detoured onto Saint Julien and Prince to de la Verdure Avenue.
Watch for CJAD's vehicle in the parade, and CJAD newscaster Trudie Mason among the parade judges.
