Hundreds of motorists who have been ticketed in Rosemont for parking outside bike paths that were closed for the season November 15 may have those tickets cancelled.
The Montreal Ombudsmen's office put out a message on Twitter yesterday that it had heard of the motorists complaints earlier this month and was concerned with the manner in which tickets were issued.
The Journal de Montreal says 361 parking tickets were handed out on November 15 alone and many more in the days after.
Motorists say the signs indicating that the bike path had been closed for the season and that cars must now park on the path and up against the curb are confusing.
The Ombudsman's office says it is conducting an audit of the situation and if it is merited it will make recommendations to alleviate the situation.
