A grocery store in Terrebonne, north of Laval, lost about a third of its roof overnight.
The structure gave way under the weight of accumulated snow and ice.
Workers had ordered the store evacuated when they heard cracking noises coming from overhead around 10:30 p.m., so no one was injured when the roof gave way.
However, the damage to the 24-hour Metro Plus store on Moody Boulevard is extensive.
