The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer got underway in Montreal yesterday. Organizers announced the 1,100 riders have raised $4.1 million for the Jewish General Hospital.
This is now the ninth annual Ride.
This is Quebec’s largest multi-day cycling fundraiser and funds go to support cancer research, treatment, care and prevention programs at the Jewish General Hospital, as well as its partners across Quebec.
“An estimated 51,900 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in Quebec this year, but together, this outstanding community of riders, sponsors, donors...is working to change that,” said Myer Bick, President and CEO of the Jewish General Hospital Foundation.
“The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer is about camaraderie and perseverance, and with ongoing commitment from the Ride community, the Jewish General Hospital will continue to make breakthroughs in cancer research."
In nine years, the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer raised more than $51 million for cancer programs at the Jewish General Hospital and its Quebec partners.
The annual event draws thousands of participants and brings together communities of cancer survivors, cyclists and supporters who train and fundraise year-round in order to participate in the two-day, 200- kilometre ride from Montreal to Quebec City.
