The city of Montreal will start work next Monday on that sinkhole that appeared on Jeanne Mance St. earlier this week.
The city says the sinkhole near René-Lévesque Boulevard was caused by a watermain break.
The old brick watermain, measuring 2 1/2 feet in diameter, was set to be rebuilt but finally gave way Monday afternoon. The watermain was built back in 1908.
The work should take about a week, weather permitting.
Jeanne Mance is closed between René-Lévesque and Viger until it's repaired.
