Sabrine Djermane and El Mahdi Jamali, the young couple whose much-publicized trial on terror-related charges ended in acquittals on all but a minor charge, are now reportedly on the payroll of Montreal's anti-radicalization centre.
The former Collège Maisonneuve students had been accused of attempting to leave Canada to join ISIS. A three-month trial ended last month, with only Jamali being convicted of possessing an explosive device.
Last week, the Crown announced they would appeal Djermane's acquittal.
Now, La Presse reports they're being hired by the centre as consultants. Herman Deparice-Okomba, the centre's director, suggested to La Presse he thought their experiences would be invaluable.
The report suggests they'll spend the next 12 weeks working with the centre on several issues, including understanding the process of indoctrination, and why it can carry such an appeal for potential jihadis. They stand to earn $294 per week.
