Political leaders in Quebec have reacted to the violence surrounding the independence referendum in Catalonia.
Premier Philippe Couillard tweeted he condemns all forces of violence,” but didn't name the Spanish government or police forces.
He also encouraged dialogue between the two sides.
The Catalonian government said 465 people have been injured, some seriously, after videos went public Sunday showing Spanish police hitting people with batons and firing rubber bullets.
CAQ leader Francois Legault has also called for dialogue, adding his party, too, deplores the use of violence.
Quebec Solidaire co-spokesperson Manon Masse has been in was in Spain today, and is calling on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to condemn the Spanish government.
