Let's get the old joke out of the way right away... If April showers bring May flowers next month will be very colourful.
A rainfall warning has been issued for the Montreal and surrounding areas, with Environment Canada saying we could see between 25 and 50 millimetres of rain through Thursday night.
The warning brings the possibility of localized flooding in low-lying areas and washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
With the rain throughout the day Wednesday and more on the way, the Ministry of Public Security is advising residents, from the lower Laurentians to the Gaspé, to be wary of rising waterways this weekend.
The Ottawa Valley, Montreal area, and Monteregie are not under any major risk of flooding because most of the snow and ice on the water has already melted.
