The seemingly interminable — and for some, dispiriting — U.S. presidential election appears to be quite the cash cow for Loto-Quebec.
By the end of the day on Monday, the provincial lottery agency raked in around $246,000 in bets on the outcome of the election, making it the most bet-upon non-sporting event in the agency's history — surpassing Oscar night in 2013.
About 10,000 bets were placed with Loto-Quebec — and 61.5 per cent of those are favoring Hillary Clinton to win the presidency.
A $100 bet on a Clinton victory would earn the player $117, while the same bet on a Trump win would lead to a $325 payout.
